Our campaign to bring safe, legal medical cannabis to Missouri patients has now collected more than 15,000 signatures, and that has only been possible thanks to the hard work of volunteer petitioners across the state. We want to acknowledge and thank every volunteer who has submitted even one signature, and some volunteers have truly gone above and beyond and deserve special recognition for the time and effort they have dedicated to this cause.
In the interest of celebrating our volunteers, we plan to periodically share with you our Volunteer Scoreboard, featuring the volunteers who have collected the most signatures. As of Monday morning, the totals for the top ten signature gatherers stand as follows:
10. Doug Keeth: 286
9. Paula Prentice: 292
8. Dan Viets: 344
7. Bonnie Boime: 404
6. Jeffrey Frey: 507
5. Martha Doney: 513
4. Lance Lenau: 655
3. Chris Chesley: 691
2. Trish Bertrand: 838
1. Ann Rohan: 1,069
We all owe these outstanding volunteers our thanks and gratitude, and I'm sure they will all continue working tirelessly to hold their positions on the scoreboard. But as much as they want to keep their names atop this list, I know they would like nothing more than increased competition and to see your name alongside theirs, jockeying for the lead. You can join their ranks by signing up as volunteer now!
If you haven't gathered any signatures yet and are worried that you can't catch up to these volunteer leaders, we will be tracking signatures both in total and for each month, so it is not too late to start. However, you will need to turn your signatures in for them to be counted, so if you have gathered signatures but not submitted them, check our events page for regular notary events in your area or contact your local volunteer coordinators about notarizing those petitions.
After gathering signatures, please turn them in at least once a month. Ideally, they should be submitted even more often, but we know that is not always possible. Our goal is to get a firm count from all across the state at the end of each month. That way, we can know where we have the most signatures, who is gathering the most, who could use some encouragement, if we are hitting our marks, if our numbers are growing or falling, and, at the end of this May, decide which six congressional districts we intend to qualify to access the ballot.
And if you aren't able to collect many or even any signatures yourself, you can support our petitioners by making a contribution. Our volunteers readily give their time to gather signatures, but they still need petitions; supplies such as flyers, clipboards, pens; registration for tables at large events where they can gather signatures; regular training and notary events; and, ultimately, assistance from a professional signature gathering company to supplement volunteer collection and validate all petitioners' signatures. All of those things cost money, and our volunteers cannot be successful without contributions from people like you.
Support the volunteers who give their time and energy to make medical cannabis a reality in Missouri by contributing $10, $25, $50, or more now! Or you can pledge your support for the entire campaign by signing up for a recurring contribution of $5, $20, or $50 here. We can bring relief to Missouri patients, but not without your help!
